Aliwheels – Go, Green,
The environment is important to us
At Aliwheels, we’re always considering the environment in everything we do. We’re committed to delivering a great customer experience and making sure the data on our register is trustworthy and confident. To reduce paper waste and costs, we’re implementing a paperless billing system for our customers. This paperless option will start in the office by utilizing technological aspects such as cloud storage to keep files and various other information secure. This is a more efficient way of working and will help to reduce waste.
Our progress so far
This brilliant progress is a testament to the culture of sustainability and the hard work put in by Team Aliwheels.
Some great initiatives have been executed contributing to these positive results:
LED Lights
With large buildings come a lot of lights! In our office building the old lights have been replaced with more energy-efficient LED bulbs along with sensors to ensure that they do not stay on longer than required.
These changes have had a positive impact on our consumption and forgetting to turn the lights off on your way out the door has become a thing of the past. Just look at the results we’ve had so far.
Our electricity-associated carbon dioxide emissions were:
445 CO2 tons, 2017 to 2018
309 CO2 tons, 2018 to 2019
65 CO2 tons, 2019 to 2020
ZIP Taps
At Aliwheels, we’re passionate about our hot beverages. Before the pandemic, we used to have staff in the office kitchens grabbing their morning coffee. So you can imagine how many kettles it took to keep our workforce going. But now we have ZIP Taps that provide ice-cold or boiling water nearly instantaneously. These taps not only use less energy but also reduce the amount of water we use. No more guessing how much water to put in the kettle!
Waste
With over 150 people working at our Aliwheels office (before the pandemic, of course), a lot of waste was generated. We have a bin for everything! We have encouraged a culture of reducing waste and recycling to great effect.
The amount of waste we generate is dropping and in the financial year 2019 to 2020, Companies House only sent 1.62 tons of waste to landfill. The rest is either recycled or incinerated with energy reclamation.
Our total waste was:
42.91 tons, 2017 to 2018
42.22 tons, 2018 to 2019
15.82 tons, 2019 to 2020
Removal of one-use plastic
There has been a great push to remove one-time-use plastic from the US Government. Aliwheels has made great progress toward achieving this goal. We have replaced all plastic cutlery and cups with more sustainable alternatives.
How we implemented the Go Green environment at our workplace
1. Eliminated Single-Use Cups
We phased out the use of single-use cups in our office break rooms and cafeterias. We encouraged our employees to switch to reusable water bottles and coffee mugs, and the results have been positive. Our employees are more likely to stay hydrated, and they feel good knowing that they’re helping the environment!
2. Using Paperless Notebooks
We have opted for a completely paperless environment as notebooks are often discarded or have a lot of pages that go unused. Furthermore, it can be hard to sort through your notes and find what you need. Our World Class CRM allows our Employees to work and coordinate smoothly.
3. Painted The Walls Green
We have painted our entire office green for some time to encourage go-green ideas in the office and create a sense of an eco-friendly environment for our employees.
4. Implementing Eco- Friendly Commuting Practices
Millions of people commute to and from work each day. Thousands of cars on the road cause large amounts of pollution.
Commuting is a necessary part of life. At Aliwheels, we’re always looking for ways to decrease our environmental impact and help keep the planet clean. We have a few initiatives in place that we think will make a difference.
Car Pooling :
Our employees are provided with pick and drop service for environmental goodness as there will be fewer cars on roads.
Public Transportation :
We promote environmental responsibility in our workplace, and one way we do that is by encouraging the use of public transportation. By taking mass transit to work, our employees help reduce traffic congestion and pollution It’s good for the environment and it’s a great way to save money.
